Cockroaches

We know cockroach behaviour inside and out. Our general pest treatments include roof void dusting and a free internal spot treatment. By targeting where cockroaches live and breed, we help keep your home safe, clean, and cockroach-free.

Cockroaches aren’t just unpleasant to see—they also:

  • Carry and spread harmful diseases like gastro, food poisoning, and dysentery

  • Trigger allergies and asthma attacks

  • Contaminate food, utensils, and surfaces with droppings, egg cases, and shed skins

  • Cause unpleasant odours in heavy infestations

That’s why it’s important to act quickly if you spot them.

How Cockroaches Live

Cockroaches are tough survivors. They’ll eat almost anything—food scraps, cardboard, fabrics, glue, even book bindings. They hide during the day and come out at night to search for food. If you see them moving around in daylight, it’s usually a sign of a big infestation.

Female cockroaches lay eggs inside a protective case (called an ootheca) that can contain dozens of baby cockroaches. Once hatched, these young roaches grow quickly and can live for months to over a year, depending on the species.

Common Species in Perth

The most common cockroaches we find in Perth are:

  • German cockroaches – fast breeders, often found in kitchens and bathrooms

  • American cockroaches – large and hardy, often in roof voids and drains

  • Australian cockroaches – commonly found in sheds, gardens, and around homes

What can you do?

While cockroaches are tough, there are a few simple steps you can take to make your home less inviting:

  • Keep food stored in sealed containers and wipe up crumbs straight away

  • Don’t leave dirty dishes in the sink overnight

  • Take out rubbish regularly and keep bins sealed

  • Reduce clutter where cockroaches can hide (cardboard boxes are a favourite!)

  • Fix any dripping taps or leaks, as cockroaches are drawn to moisture

These small habits can go a long way in preventing infestations. Although unfortunately, once you have a cockroach infestation, no amount of housekeeping will get of these cockroaches. Whilst DIY products that you can buy from store outlets can help with the odd cockroach, a more effective measure is to engage in your local pest manager, such as Luke at Coopers Pest Solutions!

What we can do:

Given the safe and effective products we have access to and our experience dealing with cockroaches, getting rid of an infestation is easy for us. Our General Pest Treatment will target those areas that cockroaches frequent, such as the roof, white goods, internal skirtings, and kitchen cupboards. Gone are the days of having to empty your cupboards so that we can safely treat inside. Today’s gel-based cockroach baits are extremely effective and eliminate the need to empty cupboards. We then create a continuous residual barrier around the outside of your house to prevent more cockroaches coming in.

Roof: Dust is sprayed into the roof cavity using a blower.

Internal: A through internal treatment is applied.

External: Spray will be applied to the following areas: around windows, gutters, fascias etc. Garages, sheds, pathways, fence lines, cracks and crevices.

How Does the Spray Work?

The spray and dust method used for large cockroach control not only eradicates the current population but will also provide long-term protection as a residual protection is formed.

A cockroach will walk over this barrier and meet this barrier, and as cockroaches tend to lick themselves clean they end up digesting the poison.

Perth homes are no strangers to cockroaches. These pests can squeeze into the tiniest cracks and are easily transported in shopping bags, furniture, or moving boxes. Once inside, they can quickly multiply and create serious problems for your household.

What to expect after a treatment

It’s normal to still see some cockroaches in the days following treatment—this means the products are working and flushing them out. Within a couple of weeks, you should notice a big reduction. For heavy infestations, a follow-up visit may be needed.
