Fleas

Flea Pest Control – Coopers Pest Solutions | Perth WA

Fleas can be a persistent and frustrating pest, especially when pets are part of your household. At Coopers Pest Solutions, we offer comprehensive flea treatments across Perth to help you eliminate fleas from your home, yard, and pets. But effective flea control is more than just treating one area—it’s about breaking the life cycle.

Understanding Fleas: Why Complete Treatment is Essential

Fleas thrive when only one area—like your pet or your backyard—is treated. For long-term success, you must treat all areas your pet spends time in.

  • Indoor pets: You must treat both the home and the pet.

  • Outdoor pets: Treat both the yard and the pet.

  • Pets inside and outside: A full treatment of the home, pet, and yard is essential.

Remember: flea control = egg control. Fleas won’t persist if you stop the eggs from hatching—on your pet, in the house, and in the yard.

How Long Does Flea Treatment Take?

Once your home is infested, full eradication may take a few weeks. Our first treatment breaks the flea life cycle, but pupae (flea cocoons) can take up to 4–8 weeks to hatch. Some homes may need follow-up treatments depending on the severity of the infestation.

You may still see fleas for several weeks after treatment, especially if large numbers of pupae are hatching. This is normal.

Important Flea Facts You Should Know

  1. No treatment kills flea pupae directly.

    • Our treatment targets adult fleas and larvae with a combination of adulticide and growth regulators.

    • Eggs exposed to the growth regulator will not develop into adults.

    • Pupae, however, remain protected in their cocoon and can hatch days or weeks later.

  2. Pupae hatch in response to movement and heat.

    • Stay active in flea-prone rooms to encourage fleas to emerge and die from treatment.

    • If pets are removed from the home, you become the next target. Keep activity in affected areas.

  3. Don’t leave rooms unused.

    • Flea cocoons will stay dormant in undisturbed spaces.

    • Daily vacuuming and walking through rooms (even in white socks, which attract fleas) will encourage them to hatch.

  4. Flea cocoons can lie dormant for up to a year.

    • Regular vacuuming helps bring them out faster.

    • Use vacuums with disposable bags for easy removal.
